An individual starting point
The office provides exercise instruction based on a patient’s needs. A programme may include movements to practise away from the clinic. The starting point is your examination and current ability, not a universal sequence downloaded from a website.
Make the instructions usable
Ask for a demonstration and clarify repetitions, frequency and any restrictions. Explain the space and equipment you have available. Tell the clinician if balance, pain or another health issue makes a movement difficult, so that the recommendation can be reconsidered.
Bring back useful feedback
Keep track of which movements you tried and how you felt afterwards. Do not push through unfamiliar symptoms to reach a target. Follow-up is a chance to review technique, decide whether the plan needs adjustment and ask about returning to your usual activities.
